That don’t Impress me Much

I see Churches build buildings.

The rich Churches.

The poor Churches.

The traditional Churches.

The pentecostal & charismatic & free Churches.

Investing massive resources in the erection of a building, which is locked most of the time.

Except on Sundays.

And perhaps a small space where the offices reside, to efficiently keep record of membership & funds.

I would be impressesd if Churches built schools.

And hospitals.

Better yet, if they created community centres,  where the illiterate could learn, the hungry could eat, the sick could heal & the lonely could find connection.

The big auditorium, with the sound & light, the dedicated space – it tells me a story of exclusivity, or exclusion.

And of ego.
