The Way of the Gift.
It is an ancient Way.
Perhaps it is a Way forgotten, amidst enlightenment, individualism, the illusions of democracy and modern progress?
The fallacy of freedom and independence.
Perhaps in its forgotten-ness is lost the art of happiness?
Independent Individuals dependant on chemicals to numb the fear & monotony, hoping to claim some wellness through wealth taken at too high a cost.
The Way of the Gift receives.
It does not take.
Or forced apprehension.
The Way of the Gift is generous.
It does not horde.
Or hold on to stuff.
Preventing the gift from being given.
The Way of the Gift is fearless.
It is not gluttonous.
Desperately consuming more than one being possibly can.
That tomorrow might bear no gift.
The Way of the Gift acknowledges.
It does not claim mastery.
The One who gives.
Not a snake.
And so …
It does not want.
Beyond what is measured.
It is grateful.
In loss & gain.
And loss again.
For along this Way loss is gain.
As gain is gain.
A gift redeemed from grace.
The Way of the Gift is simpler.
That what is measured, is beautiful.
In a different kind of abundance.
Beyond just stuff.
In uncountable gifts Who is the Gift.
In every moment.
Of every life.
Of every being.
Through bringing into being.
And sustaining towards becoming.
From ancient eternity.
To ancient eternity.
