Thoughts about ‘ 礼品之路’ or ‘The Way of the Gift’ have been & are brewing in my being, as we (my family & I) settle, for a while unknown, into life in Jiamusi, in the North of China.
The move. The new environment. The experience. And perhaps my reading as I study ‘happiness’, all contribute to these thoughts.
They are incomplete. They will be for a while. I share them nevertheless.Perhaps, as I write, the thoughts take shape & slowly become comprehensible.
The 1st post was simply titled: 礼品之路
The second post was titled: 礼品之路 – The Gift of Enough
The third post elaborated on ‘enough’, simply saying: 礼品之路 – More about ‘the Gift of Enough’
Then we took a step backwards, to consider ‘being & becoming’: 礼品之路 – ‘The Gift of Being & Becoming’
In that post my thoughts went more to ‘the gift of being’.
An immense gift which speaks to our value.
Our collective value.
And our preciousness as exquisite individuals.
Now I’d like to share some ideas, more specifically about ‘the Gift of Becoming’, which is intimately related to ‘being’.
Since I am very aware that I do not always act my value.
How do I become?
What do I become?
Do I even want to ‘become’?
The Way of the Gift (礼品之路) is the Gift of life itself.
It is a gift robbed of limit.
It does not only bestow ‘being’.
It bestows ‘becoming’.
You may remember, from previous posts:’My assumption is that we have an Origin.’
Our Origin did not only call us into ‘being’, (s)He calls us into ‘being’.
Into ‘being’ everything we are.
This is a difficult thought to digest.
Espescially if I am stuck in a world which is one dimensional.
A world in which I can ‘be’ only one thing.
Along 礼品之路 (The Way of the Gift), we are redeemed from a one dimensional existence.
We are complete, while still becoming.
We are eternal, while still trapped by time & decay.
We are comprehensively regenerated into immensity, while we still struggle to find our Original Being.
‘The Gift of Becoming’ speaks of our Origin’s patient whisper, calling us towards embracing our original nature, being it, as we are it in our connection to (s)He who thought & thinks, so that we may be.
Put simply: we are, because (s)He thinks. And (s)He thinks beautifully.
So even while I am prisoner to time and decay, a convict of a loss, which turned out to be a gain, I am free & eternal.
Infused with the breath & being of our Origin, to be more than compliant obeyers of an external edict.
Infused with the breath & being of our Origin, I am.
Becoming love, as apposed to trying & failing to give it.
Becoming happiness, as apposed to trying & failing to pursue it.
Becoming peace, as opposed to attempting to force it onto turmoil.
Even the Ancient Authors I read, trying to grasp life & happiness, seem to continue to talk of aspiration & effort.
礼品之路 (The Way of the Gift) is stripped of futile trying.
Of destructive regret & guilt & self flagellation.
礼品之路 (The Way of the Gift) is a way beautifully described in simple words by the Gift, centuries ago.
(s)He speaks of our Origin as ‘the Vine’.
Of us as ‘the Branches’.
(s)He speaks of a connectedness.
(s)He in us & us in H(er)im.
(s)He speaks of an effortless process flowing from this connectedness.
Becoming patience, in stead of trying & failing to be patient.
Becoming kindness, in stead of trying & failing to be kind.
Becoming goodness, in stead of trying to do good.
(s)He calls it fruit.
Something the branches cannot bring into being, other than in their connectedness to the Vine.
The simplicity is stunning.
Perhaps this is all we need to comprehend.
That our Origin is the Gift.
That our Origin infuses us with an ability beyond our comprehension.
And with every day, even while in a one dimensional sense we get caught up in futile attempts to do better, we become.
Religion tells us a different story.
The story of trying & failing.
The story of constant prayers for forgiveness.
The story of futility.
Victims of our DNA & breeding.
Even Psychology rips hope from our hands, as we live, convicted to be the products of our past & environment.
礼品之路 (The Way of the Gift) is a way filled with hope.
And it is a gift.
Never to be owned or purvyed or controlled or earned.
It is yours.
May you see it.
May you embrace it.
May you become.
Everything you are, in your Origin.
