The Way of the Gift.

I am on a journey, reading as much ancient philosophy as I possibly can, with at the heart of my reading (at the moment), the works of the old African Philosopher St Augustine of Hippo Rego.

I read and write, because I am interested in ‘happiness’.

I live a happy life.

I live it, with every day that passes, a little more, because I read and experience and digest and actively try to make sense of the world we live in, from a deep belief that we come from a single Origin Who is much more than the God presented to us by religion, in general, and Christianity specifically.

To live a happy life.

I believe this is our purpose, our destiny, the reason why we exist, why we were created.

The happy life, is not a life free of trouble or unconnected from reality, it is not a life without boundaries or loss or sorrow.

The happy life is a life filled with meaning and purpose, connected in the most real of ways.

One in which value has deep meaning and reason is strong.

And so, ‘happiness’ is what I am studying.

For even though we are created to live a happy life, for most of us it remains a pursuit.

Something we strive for, but never reach.

礼品之路 or ‘The Way of the Gift’ is an ancient way, forgotten in many ways, discarded by religion, modernism & post-modernism.

For me, it is the fiber of happiness.
